The Second Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Georgian-Swiss Intellectual Property Project (GESIP) was Held at Sakpatenti

The second meeting of the Steering Committee of the Georgian-Swiss Intellectual Property Project (GESIP) was held at the head office of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”. The meeting was attended by representatives of Sakpatenti, the Swiss side and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the activities provided by the first phase of the project, the planned events, and also presented the updated needs and priorities for the implementation of the second phase of the project.

Within the project, revision of the necessary acts for the implementation of the Law of Georgia “On Appellations of Origin of Goods and Geographical Indications” is underway, trainings are being conducted on issues such as methods of examination of patent applications related to artificial intelligence and various software systems adapted to business sectors.
It should be noted that GESIP is a joint project of Sakpatenti and the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI), implemented with the financial support of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The project aims to promote effective use of geographical indications in Georgia, including sharing of experience related to patent searches, institutional strengthening of producers and associations of producers of GI goods and improvement of intellectual property services.
