Sakpatenti Participated in the Panel Discussion Held within the “Young Scientists’ Week”

The National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti” participated in the panel discussion held within the “Young Scientists’ Week”. The event was attended by Mr. Dimitri Iobashvili, Head of the Chemistry-Medicine and Biology Division of the Department of Invention and New Varieties and Breedsof Sakpatenti. The event, planned by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, was held at the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. Based on the example of Georgia, the participants of the meeting discussed the translation of scientific research into economy. In the format of a panel discussion, attention was focused on the environment, achievements, challenges and prospects of translation of research into economy.
At the event, the main goal about the role of scientific innovative research in the development of economy and the introduction of research with the potential of commercial transfer was determined, which will be focused on solving economic challenges. Thus, proceeding from the importance of the issue, state funding schemes, grants, programs, and achievement indicators were discussed.
In addition, successful projects financed by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia were highlighted, in assessment of patentability of which Sakpatenti was involved actively. Patentability assessment criteria include novelty, inventive step and industrial applicability.
The event was attended by representatives of various organizations working in the direction of promotion of research and entrepreneurship, technological transfer, among them: Mr. Teimuraz Dochviri, Director General of LEPL Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, Mr. Nodar Papukashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Ms. Ketevan Kokrashvili, Head of the Science Development Department of the same Ministry, Ms. Ketevan Gabitashvili, Head of Science Department of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, as well as scientists and professors of various universities – Mr. Giorgi Tsintskaladze, Mr. Archil Geguchadze, Mr. Tengiz Mdzinarishvili.
At the event the winning scientific projects of the state grant competitions administered by the Foundation were presented.
