Sakpatenti is a Supporter of the Celebration of New Grape Harvest - “Stveli”

To mark the beginning of the grape harvest in Georgia, the new grape harvest celebration - “Stveli” was held in Telavi. The festival is aimed to popularize Georgian wine products on the local market, in particular, wines of geographical indications and appellations of origin, made from Georgian grapes, and to raise their consumer culture.
The National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia, as a supporting organization of the event, participated actively in the process of implementation of the festival. At the opening ceremony, held at King Erekle Square, Ms. Nino Chikovani, Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti, addressed the festival participants and noted that our country is rich in various unique agricultural products, with the original tradition of their production, which is a condition facilitating production of high-quality and competitive goods. Thus, organization of a public celebration for the purpose of popularization and demonstration of Georgian wine is one of the excellent opportunities for increasing the export potential of wine and economic, cultural and tourist development of regions.
At the event, during the celebration, the corner of Sakpatenti was arranged, where an exhibition stand was presented with an appropriate banner and materials showing geographical indications. Visitors of Sakpatenti corner were handed over information booklets, Sakpatenti representatives offered consultations in the field of geographical indications and appellations of origin for interested persons and also participated in various activities held at the festival. The active involvement of the office in the event will contribute to dissemination of information about protection of registered unique Georgian products and their popularization, arousing interest in geographical indications and appellations of origin and formation of public opinion regarding their importance, as well as demonstration of Sakpatenti activity in this direction and raising awareness about the office in the public.
The activities planned for the celebration of the new grape harvest “Stveli” included various formats. Wine producing companies created “King Erekle Wine” and the winner was revealed among them, being awarded the status of the best blend – “King Erekle Wine”. “King Erekle Wine” – Gold 2024 was awarded toTika Svanidze – Vancko Winery, “King Erekle Wine” – Silver 2024 was won by “K’Home Winery” company, and “King Erekle Wine” – Bronze 2024 was awarded to Tika Winery “Dema”. The event also included comparison of wines of the same grape variety produced in several places, vertical tasting (of wines made by the same company in different years), as well as meetings with winemakers who, together with the sommelier, discussed and evaluated the wines presented at the celebration. Within the festival, an exhibition-sale was organized. A special invitation was handed over to the visitors, allowing them to purchase products at the celebration of the new grape harvest at exceptional prices. In addition, theatrical performances were held. It is noteworthy that the history of “Stveli”, along with harvesting and pressing grapes, includes a special ritual performed in costume, and representatives of Georgian culture and art participated in this performance.
The event was organized by the Georgian Chamber of Culture and its partner company – N(N)LE – “Culture Forever”, and with the support of the National Wine Agency. Together with Sakpatenti, the supporters of the festival were the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, the Administration of the State Trustee in Kakheti Region and the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
