A Memorandum of Cooperation was Signed Between Sakpatenti and the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency

A Memorandum of Cooperation was concluded between Sakpatenti and the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA). The Memorandum was signed by Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti, and Mr. Irakli Lekvinadze, Chairman of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency.
The Memorandum is aimed to deepen cooperation between the parties in the process of implementation of competition, anti-dumping and consumer protection and intellectual property protection policies.
To ensure awareness raising, the parties will share experience on current tendencies and best practices, hold meetings and consultations between the experts of the parties, during which they will discuss specific important issues taking into account mutual interest. At the meeting, the parties noted that Sakpatenti and GCCA will implement various activities in future. In particular, joint campaigns and events to raise public awareness in the field of intellectual property protection will be held, attention will be focused on issues of competition, anti-dumping and consumer rights protection in the business sector.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed within the International Conference on Competition and Consumer Rights Protection, this year being held in Tbilisi for already the third time. The purpose of the event is to strengthen the competition policy and improve mechanisms for protection of consumer rights in Georgia. Within the Conference, competition policy, consumer rights protection mechanisms and the activities carried out by the regulatory bodies were discussed. The three-day event was jointly organized by the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency, the National Bank of Georgia, the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia and the Communications Commission. The conference was concluded with signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia.
