Sakpatenti Chairman Held a Public Lecture for GTU Students

Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”, held a public lecture for students of the Georgian Technical University (GTU) in order to introduce better the intellectual property field.

Mr. Soso Giorgadze discussed with the youth the essence of intellectual property and its main subject-matters, as well as the national and international systems of intellectual property protection. The discussion also touched upon the role of intellectual property in economy and science. In particular, Sakpatenti Chairman spoke about knowledge-based economy, the role of IP in the development of the country’s economy and how intangible assets are created and accumulated in the areas of education, science and industry. The students also had an opportunity to receive information on current global trends in the field of intellectual property protection and the latest reforms implemented in Georgia.

It is noteworthy that the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti” and the Georgian Technical University (GTU), within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding, have been cooperating actively and fruitfully for years. Such events with students facilitate not only popularization of intellectual property among the youth, kindling of interest in IP subject-matters and understanding of the importance of its protection, but also raising public awareness on intellectual property, in general.
