December 18, 2024
The 2024 CNIPA Training Workshop on Trademark was held at the China Intellectual Property Training Center (CIPTC) in Beijing, organized by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).
Ms. Nona Tvauri and Ms. Teona Papashvili, Chief Specialists of the Division of Trademark and Geographical Indications of Sakpatenti, attended the workshop. They delivered a presentation for the participants on the experience of Sakpatenti in the trademark field and the latest developments of the office in this direction.
The workshop participants familiarized with the specifics of the Chinese trademark system, in particular, CNIPA trademark experts shared with the trainees the information about China’s trademark legal system, examination, registration and grounds for invalidation of trademarks, including non-traditional marks. Within the workshop, study visits were organized to the Trademark Office of CNIPA, as well as to the local software company - SOHU. It is noteworthy that activation of the Georgian-Chinese cooperation in the field of intellectual property protection facilitates deepening of relations between the two countries as well as in the region, which, in itself, ensures the development of the national economy.
In this regard, the Letter of Intent for Cooperation in Geographical Indications Protection between Sakpatenti and the China National Intellectual Property Administration, signed in September of the current year, is important. The document envisages promotion of mutual understanding of the geographical indications protection systems of both sides, as well as carrying out exchanges and sharing of practices in areas of common concern.
