The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Annual Global Awards Competition has Opened with a Call for Applications

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has announced the Global Awards 2025. The WIPO annual Global Awards competition aims to reveal and showcase significant startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and university spinouts that use intellectual property for business success as well as for social impact.
The participation in the competition is free of charge and is open for small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs from around the world in all industries. Applications may be submitted by representatives across business sectors (technology, health, agriculture, design, etc.), who use any direction of intellectual property – copyright, trademarks, patents or geographical indications.
To participate in the competition, electronic applications are available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish from January 15 to March 31, 2025.
Winners of the Global Awards 2025 will be selected from more than 100 countries by an independent jury panel comprised of high-profile individuals celebrated for their global achievements and expertise. Each winner will be invited to Geneva to attend the WIPO Global Awards ceremony and other events, as well as tailored mentorship, an opportunity of commercialization of intellectual property and access to additional financial resources for business development and facilitation of partnership. This year, the “Best Woman Entrepreneur” and the “Best Youth Entrepreneur” will be revealed in new nominations. The competition gives a unique opportunity to companies, individuals, inventors, authors and entrepreneurs to gain global visibility and recognition.
The Global Awards was first held in 2022 and since then, in just 2 years, the WIPO Global Awards program has become the most prestigious competition of industry, aimed to encourage the use and commercialization of intellectual property for sustainable development of small business.
