Training on Personal Data Protection was Held at Sakpatenti

In accordance with the requirements of new Law of Georgia “On Personal Date Protection”, to ensure the high standard of personal data protection, a one-day training session was held for Sakpatenti staff, in cooperation with the Personal Data Protection Service. The training was opened with a welcoming address by Ms. Tika Nebieridze, Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti.
To date, Sakpatenti has already carried out measures aimed to ensure personal data protection, pursuant to the legislative novelties. In particular, the legal acts of the Office and some issues related to personal data processing have been reviewed and brought into line with the new Law, in addition, under the obligation, a Personal Data Protection Officer has been appointed at the Office.
The training session for Sakpatenti staff was led by trainers Ms. Ana Shengelia, Senior Lawyer of the Personal Data Protection Service, and Mr. Tengiz Mamulia, Officer of the Personal Data Protection Service. During the training, the basics and principles of personal data processing were considered, attention was also focused on data security. In addition, Sakpatenti staff members received extensive information on audio monitoring, video monitoring and biometric data processing. The discussion also touched upon the assessment of the impact of data protection as well as the importance of the institution of personal data protection officer. At the end of the training session, the participants discussed administrative offences provided for by the above-mentioned Law and the rules for responding to them.
The Parliament of Georgia adopted the new Law of Georgia “On Personal Data Protection” on June 14, 2023, and its main part entered into force on March 1, 2024.
