Sakpatenti Delivered a Presentation on Digital Transformation, Information and Communication Technology at the Event Held Under the Aegis of WIPO in Geneva

The First Session of the WIPO Information and Communication Technology Leadership Dialogue (WILD) was held in Geneva, Switzerland, at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which was aimed to share experience and information between IP offices and organizations in the direction of digital technologies.
The event was opened by Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO. At the session the following themes were discussed: Emerging technologies: key challenges and opportunities; Digital business strategy and best practices; Cyber resiliency, Implications of technology trends; AI tools for IP businesses; Impact of emerging technologies on IP ecosystems; Global IP data exchange and sharing platforms.
At the session, Ms. Salome Tsimakuridze, Head of the Administration Department, National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”, delivered a presentation on Digital Transformation and Key Challenges and introduced to the participants the ongoing projects pertaining to digital transformation at Sakpatenti, namely, upgrading of the electronic filing system, which covers adding new functionalities and analytics, including a secure and flexible online payment module; upgrading the operation system and databases; full automation of processes and improving the functions of data exchange with international organizations; enhanced data protection mechanisms and authorization systems. She also spoke about the archive digitization project, which is aimed at scientific-technical processing of material documents accumulated since the establishment of Sakpatenti, their digitization and creation of a unified, structured material and digital archive.
The session participants were also informed about the adaptation of Sakpatenti website for persons with disabilities. Ms. Salome Tsimakuridze also touched upon the future plans, which are oriented to maximum alignment of Sakpatenti with the challenges of the digital era.
It is noteworthy that digital transformation is a key national priority for Georgia. The Government of Georgia actively supports transformation of digital economy and public services. To advance the country’s digital development and ensure system security, the Digital Governance Strategy of Georgia for 2025-2030 and the Cybersecurity Awareness Strategy for 2025-2030 have been developed. Sakpatenti fully shares the country’s digital development policies and this vision drives the digital transformation agenda of its activity.
