A Memorandum of Cooperation was Signed between Sakpatenti and Tbilisi City Hall

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Sakpatenti and Tbilisi City Hall, aimed to raise awareness of the youth in the field of intellectual property. The Memorandum was signed by Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti, and Mr. Irakli Gvilava, Head of Municipal Department for Culture, Education, Sports, and Youth Affairs of Tbilisi City Hall.
Within the Memorandum, it is planned to hold joint training and educational events, including seasonal schools, youth camps, conferences, training sessions and seminars, as well as to organize and implement other activities.
Sakpatenti pays special attention to strengthening of education and science in the country in the direction of intellectual property protection. In this regard, the joint Master’s Program of Sakpatenti, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Kutaisi International University (KIU) is noteworthy, which will facilitate considerably the formation of the innovative ecosystem in Georgia and will create for the Georgian youth new opportunities of professional development. From this viewpoint, especially important is the initiative of Prime Minister of Georgia Mr. Irakli Kobakidze, as a result of which, the former building of the Parliament in Kutaisi will be transformed into a high-technology centre with modern standards. The centre will unite various scientific-research and training laboratories, including Sakpatenti Intellectual Property Teaching and Training Center, which will combine all functions related to dissemination of knowledge in the field of intellectual property and will be equipped with modern, innovative technologies. Sakpatenti, as the body defining the policy in the intellectual property field in Georgia, is actively engaged in events aimed at the development of innovations and technologies, such as: Millennium Innovation Award, “Leonardo da Vinci” Competition for Student Inventors and Researchers and various educational seminars with pupils and students.
Active cooperation between Sakpatenti and Tbilisi City Hall in the direction of intellectual property protection will further promote generation of innovative ideas in the country, development of professional skills among the youth and stimulation of knowledge-based economy.
