Georgia has Advanced Again in the Ranking of the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2025

The Global Innovation Index (GII) is based on comprehensive analysis of innovation according to 2 sub-indices: the first –Innovation Input Sub-Index, which refers to the volume of investments in the direction of innovation made in a country, and the second – Innovation Output Sub-Index, which involves translation of innovation from generated knowledge to a concrete output.
The countries are evaluated according to various criteria, including Institutions, Human capital and research infrastructure, Credit, Investments, Linkages, absorption and diffusion of knowledge, as well as Creative outputs. Each sub-index is structured according to the main components, whereas evaluation is based on up to 80 indicators in 8 thematic categories. It is noteworthy that in 2025 the rankings of Georgia have improved in both sub-indices. Especially positive dynamics was observable in the following areas: Institutions – 28th position (in 2024 – 32nd); Knowledge and technology outputs – 66th (in 2024 – 72nd in); Market sophistication – 59th (in 2024 – 64th); Infrastructure – 73rd (in 2024 – 74th); Creative outputs – 76th (in 2024 – 77th).
The results of the current year have also revealed that Georgia ranks 9th among 36 upper middle-income economies.
The rankings of Georgia in the Global Innovation Index 2025 clearly demonstrate the significant progress of the country in such areas as: Business sophistication, Human capital, Creative outputs, Technology and Infrastructure.
