Unique Chance for Game Developers – International Competition the Next Great IP Game Jam is Launched

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Global Game Jam (GGJ) have launched a joint international initiative - the Next Great IP Game Jam.
The jam will be held in virtual format on October 9-27 of the current year. The project challenges videogame developers between the ages of 15 and 35. The initiative is aimed to raise awareness among the youth about the importance of intellectual property protection and its practical use in the creative process.
Jammers will work on designing videogames having franchise potential. Special focus will be on developing characters, branding, and merchandising opportunities.
Within the project, tailored knowledge sessions and mentorship are planned, led by experts from around the world, during which participants will learn how copyright, trademarks, patents, designs and trade secrets can protect their creations.
The best games from each region will be revealed in November, 2025. Industry leaders will personally share experience with winners who will receive an opportunity to showcase their work on the international level and build their professional networks.
The initiative enables the youth not only to understand the importance of intellectual property but also to gain practical knowledge and skills which can transform their ideas into a real business opportunity.
