Sakpatenti Participated in a Training Workshop Organized by the China National Intellectual Property Administration

Within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative, a Training
Workshop on Intellectual Property, organized by the China National Intellectual
Property Administration (CNIPA),was held in Chongqing, the People’s Republic of
China. The aim of the event was to create such platform for exchanging information
and experience, that would allow the participants to get acquainted with the
issues related to the intellectual property policy, strategy and IP protection
of China. From Georgia, Ms. Tika Nebieridze, Deputy Chairperson of the National
Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”, and Ms. Darejan Mtchedlidze,
Head of the Trademarks, Geographical Indications and Design Department attended
the event.
During the workshop, intellectual property sessions were
held, where the participants presented the latest achievements of their
countries regarding the development of the current legislation, policy
development and protection in the IP field. Ms.
Darejan Mtchedlidze delivered a
presentation about the legislative amendments implemented in Georgia in recent
years aimed at strengthening the mechanisms for protection of IP subject-matters
and the future plans of Sakpatenti.
The agenda included visits to local organizations, among
these, to the Chongqing Intellectual Property Office, the Seres Group
Enterprise and the Chongqing University of Technology.
In the context of the Georgia-China cooperation in the field
of intellectual property protection, the Letter of Intent signed between
Sakpatenti and the China National Intellectual Property Administration on
September 12, 2024, in Beijing is of particular importance, in which the
readiness of the two countries is expressed to deepen cooperation for development
of the systems of protection of geographical indications.
