Mr. Soso Giorgadze Awarded the finalist team “Swish” of the Millennium Innovation Award 2025
December 24, 2025

The “Millennium Innovation Award” was held for the
eleventh time this year. For many years, Sakpatenti has cooperated with the
Millennium Foundation, serving as a constant and active supporter of the
competition and being closely involved in the implementation of initiatives
aimed at fostering innovation and the development of new technologies. Since
the establishment of the Award in 2014, a representative of Sakpatenti Mr.
Vasil Giorgadze, Head of the Mechanics and Physics Division of the Department of
Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds, has been a permanent member of the
jury. In addition, Sakpatenti has participated in the evaluation of competition
projects and selection of the winning teams for the fifth consecutive year.
Each year, Sakpatenti awards one of the finalist teams of the competition.
This year, at the concluding event, where the winning
teams of 2025 were announced and the projects developed by the competition
participants were exhibited, Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairperson of Sakpatenti, granted
Sakpatenti’s Special Prize and gifts to the team “Swish” from Geno Adamia
Senaki Public School № 1. The team presented a smart fishing device and a
multifunctional application. The project includes an intelligent device that
floats in water and measures various environmental parameters, such as water
temperature, oxygen content in water, and the frequency of fish movement, etc.
The system not only simplifies the fishing process but also increases the
likelihood of success. The application processes the collected data and,
through artificial intelligence, provides the fisherman with the relevant
information. The application also features a fish recognition function: the
fisherman takes a photo of the caught fish, and the system identifies its
species and indicates whether it is rare or protected. The members of “Swish”
team are Saba Gulbiani, Lado Adamia, Sandro Khurtsia, and Revaz Avaliani.
The winner of the competition and first-place
recipient was the team “Clusters” from LEPL Vladimir Komarov Tbilisi School of
Physics and Mathematics № 199, with the project “RescuedBy.” This is a
drone-based, artificial intelligence–powered search and rescue system designed
to ensure the quick and effective detection of missing persons in hard-to-reach
areas and disaster zones.
The goal of the “Millennium Innovation Award” is
to spark interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics (STEM) among upper secondary school students, encourage innovative
and creative skills in young learners, foster teamwork, and attract young talent
to the scientific community.
The Competition is organized by the Millennium
Challenge Foundation, which implements the Millennium Innovation Award project
in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and
with the financial support of the U.S. Embassy. In addition, along with
Sakpatenti, the event is supported by the Georgia’s Innovation and Technology
Agency (GITA), Liberty Bank and EPAM Georgia.
