Sakpatenti has been Granted Access to the Search Tool of the European Patent Office

The National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti” has been granted access to the modern patent search tool of the European Patent Office (EPO) – ANSERA-based SEARCH (AbS), which was implemented within the framework of the biennial (2025-2026) joint Action Plan of Sakpatenti and the EPO.
The ANSERA-based SEARCH is one of the leading patent search tools in the world, providing access to a broad and diverse range of global patent data. The AbS tool is used directly by the European Patent Office in the patent search and examination process, which indicates its reliability and efficiency.
The AbS search platform is distinguished by its functional diversity and user-oriented interface, which significantly simplifies retrieval of relevant information during the examination process and increases the accuracy of research results.
Access to the AbS tool is an important step toward sustainability and institutional development of the patent system of Georgia. Access to the largest and most authoritative patent search database of the European Patent Office creates the prerequisite for further improving the quality of patent examination and provides an opportunity of development of a new, high-value services in the field of legal protection of inventions.
Introduction of the above-mentioned tool allows Sakpatenti to use patent databases more effectively, improve the quality of examination process and ensure optimal use of time and institutional resources. The volume and reliability of the data available in the tool will facilitate making the well-founded and substantiated patent decisions.
The relevant Agreement between Sakpatenti and the EPO was signed by Mr. António Campinos, President of the European Patent Office (EPO), and Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti. The Agreement entered into force from the date of its signature by both Parties, with the term of validity of the next 4 years. Along with this, upon a relevant request, the term of the Agreement may be extended by additional periods.
