On the Occasion of Georgian National Wine Day, Seedlings of the “Chinuri Khaliani” Grape Variety Were Planted at Sakpatenti

The Chairman of Sakpatenti, together with the staff, planted seedlings of the “Chinuri Khaliani” grape variety in the vineyard located at Sakpatenti premises in Mtskheta. In this small area, 33 Georgian grape varieties are already growing, while the care, cultivation, and harvesting of the vineyard have become a tradition at Sakpatenti over the years.
It is noteworthy that today’s activity at Sakpatenti is dedicated to the celebration of May 8. In February of this year, by decision of the Government of Georgia, this day was declared Georgian National Wine Day.
Georgia is globally recognized as the homeland of wine, with an 8,000-year continuous history, and is considered an important element of national identity and cultural heritage.
Unique Georgian wines are registered at Sakpatenti as appellations of origin. This status is used to designate products that originate from a specific geographical area and are associated with that place due to their distinct characteristics, high quality, and uniqueness. In Georgia, 33 appellations of origin for unique wines are registered.
