The closing ceremony of the summer camp “Intellectual Property and Innovations” was held at SAKPATENTI Head Office. The event was attended by Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of SAKPATENTI, as well as by representatives of Tbilisi City Assembly and Tbilisi City Hall – Mr. Irakli Gvilava, Head of Municipal Department for Culture, Education, Sports, and Youth Affairs of Tbilisi City Hall, Ms. Tinatin Nibloshvili, Deputy Chairperson of Tbilisi City Assembly, Mr. Shalva Sutiashvili, Chairman of Sports and Youth Affairs Commission of Tbilisi City Assembly, and other invited guests. 

The Chairman of SAKPATENTI spoke to the participants of the camp about intellectual property, the role of education in personal development and its importance. In addition, he highlighted the economic potential of intellectual property, noting that protection and effective use of IP are one of the prerequisites for the economic development of the country, which in its turn facilitates creation of new industries and employment opportunities. At the end of the event, the camp participants were awarded certificates recognizing their successful completion of the summer camp. 

The five-day summer camp “Intellectual Property and Innovations” was held from July 10 to 14 in Bakuriani, Borjomi Municipality. The project is being implemented for the second year within the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between SAKPATENTI and Tbilisi City Hall. Its objective is to raise awareness among young people in the field of intellectual property and education, through joint educational activities. The camp brought together 29 young people, aged 15 to 18, who were winners of the National Educational Olympiad.

The conceptual framework of the camp was specially developed by SAKPATENTI Intellectual Property Education and Training Center. The training sessions were led by SAKPATENTI representatives – Ms. Mery Macharashvili, Head of the Department of Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds, and Ms. Darejan Mtchedlidze, Head of the Department of Trademarks, Geographical Indications and Design. 

Within the camp program, the young participants got acquainted with the information on protection of inventions, trademarks, geographical indications, designs and new varieties and breeds, as well as works protected by copyright and related rights. During the training sessions particular emphasis was placed on innovations, modern technologies and the protection of works generated by artificial intelligence.
