WIPO Lisbon Agreement Working Group Meeting will be chaired by Nikoloz Gogilidze

Chairman of Sakpatenti, Mr. Nikoloz Gogilidze was elected as a Chair of the Working Group for the Preparation of Common Regulations under the Lisbon Agreement and the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The meeting held on June 7-9, 2016 was opened by Mr. Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization .
After proposal of the delegation of France, Mr. Nikoloz Gogilidze was unanimously elected as a Chair of the Working Group.
Noteworthy, this is the first time Georgian delegation chairs the WIPO working group, which is a result of Georgia’s active involvement on international arena.
Delegates discussed draft Common Regulations under the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their International Registration and the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications. Short and long term possibilities of Lisbon Union funding were also covered.
Protection of Appellation of Origins and Geographical Indications both locally and internationally are among the top priorities of Georgia.
