Today, on June 2, 2016, a sub-regional seminar “Intellectual Property Policies in Universities and Research Institutions” was opened, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti. During the seminar the current situation regarding IP policies at universities in Georgia will be discussed, experience of Israel on the use of IP policies at universities and research institutions as well as WIPO guidance will be introduced to the participants.
The seminar is attended by representatives of universities and research institutions of Georgia and foreign countries as well as patent offices. Among the Seminar speakers is Mr. Habip Asan, President of the Turkish Patent Institute, who will deliver a presentation on acquisition of IP rights on inventions created at universities and research institutions in Turkey and patent management schemes. The two-day seminar is held with the support of the Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency, at the hall of the Technological Park.
