Lessons on Intellectual Property are Delivered Throughout Georgia

Within the campaign on occasion of the World Intellectual Property Day – April 26 – special lessons are delivered for pupils of elementary grades of up to 100 public schools. The lessons are aimed at raising awareness on the essence and significance of intellectual property and copyright. A special lesson plan was drafted for the 4th-6th grades, in cooperation with USAID Georgia Primary Education Project (USAID/G-PriEd) and with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The recommendation on delivering the above-mentioned lesions was sent to public schools. The teaching material includes a reading book “Doremius Solas” (author: Irma Malatsidze), created by cooperation of G-PriEd and Sakpatenti, a fairy tale on copyright, as well as the article on inventions “Strange Patents”, published in newspaper “Reading Time” intended for pupils.
The lessons at public school of village of Gavazi, Kakheti region, Tbilisi public school No. 64 and Rustavi public school No. 21, as well as Tetritsqaro Municipality Koda public school delivered on April 25-27, 2016, were attended by officials of National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti. Pupils familiarized with subject-matters protected by copyright and were informed about the World Intellectual Property Day – April 26. They received readers on copyright, inventions and other intellectual property subject-matters, published within Sakpatenti-G-PriEd cooperation, which are also available electronically.
The World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated on April 26 and it is aimed at raising public awareness on intellectual property issues. The main objective of the above-mentioned special lessons is to develop respect for intellectual property and copyright in youth.
