Sakpatenti Hosted Senators of the Republic of France

On February 18, Senator of the Republic of France Mr. Pascal Allizard, Mr. Fabrice Hugot, advisor to the European Committee of Senate and representatives of the Embassy of France to Georgia visited Sakpatenti. During the meeting the significance of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) between Georgia and the European Union and its role in the development of the intellectual property system in Georgia were discussed.
Chairman of Sakpatenti Mr. Nikoloz Gogilidze focused attention on the necessity of development of the system of geographical indications in Georgia, which will facilitate increase of export potential of Georgian products on the European market. The Chairman expressed hope that the countries of the European Union will share experience and render assistance to Georgia in formation of an effective system of geographical indications. The discussion also touched upon mechanisms for improvement of intellectual property rights enforcement and promotion of innovation activities, which is a significant factor on the way to the economic progress of Georgia.
The parties discussed prospects for deepening cooperation. The Senators expressed their willingness to support Sakpatenti in the field of further development of intellectual property protection system.
