On July 20th 2017, in Batumi a meeting was held between Mr. Nikoloz Gogilidze, Chairman of National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia SAKPATENTI and Mr. He Zhimin, Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China ( SIPO).
On July 13, 2017, the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (SAIC) registered the appellation of origin of Georgian mineral water “Nabeghlavi”.
Today, on July 10, 2017, a technical visit of Sakpatenti delegation started to Alicante (Spain). The visit is aimed at transition to the next stage of EUIPO and Sakpatenti electronic management system development and integration.
Today, on July 7, 2017, Sakpatenti representatives are holding a meeting with Georgian entrepreneurs to introduce to them the importance of intellectual property for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The meeting taking place at the "Rooms Hotel Tbilisi" aims to assist entrepreneurs in drafting an intellectual property management portfolio, which will facilitate increasing competitiveness of Georgian companies and creating economic value in the form of intangible assets .
On July 5, 2017, the fourth, final stage of moot court in intellectual property law took place at Tbilisi State University. The participants of the final competition were the best students of the Faculty of Law of Tbilisi State University (TSU) and Caucasus International University. The team of Tbilisi State University “Ultima Ratio” became the winner of the competition. The students of the winning team – Elisabed Shengelia and Nino Jokhadze were awarded a 300-GEL voucher of “Elit Electronics”. In addition, the winners, together with the members of the second finalist team “Invictus” will pass three-month internship at the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti.
From June 29 to July 1, 2017, Worldwide Symposium on Geographical Indications is held in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, People’s Republic of China, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (SAIC). The Symposium is a major event in the field of geographical indications worldwide and is held biennially. The objective of the Symposium is to organize a forum to exchange ideas and discuss matters related to protection and use of GIs. The event also provides technical access and shares information on recent developments in the field of geographical indications. Alongside with other speakers Mrs. Sophio Mujiri, Deputy Chairperson of National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti, delivered a presentation “Management of Geographical Indications of Wines” to participants of the Symposium.
On June 28-29, 2017, two-day training on the use of ePCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) platform is held at National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti. The training is delivered by a representative of the World intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). On the first day of the event, examiners of the Service of Examination as to Form of the Sakpatenti Department of Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds received extensive information on the ePCT platform, and today the WIPO representative will introduce the electronic system to interested persons, patent attorneys and applicants.
On June 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. a training regarding the ePCT platform will take place at Sakpatenti’s Tbilisi office (N. Ramishvili str. 31). The training will be delivered by a representative of the WIPO and it is intended for all interested persons, especially for patent attorneys and applicants.
