Today, National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its foundation. On this occasion, a reception is held at Tbilisi City Assembly Hall. During the event, Mr. Nikoloz Gogilidze, Chairman of Sakpatenti, awarded companies, owning the largest quantity of local designs and trademarks, among these – “Embawood Georgia”, “Cartu Universal”, Aversi Pharma”, “Bank of Georgia”, “Barambo” and others. Diplomas and awards were handed over to inventors who own the greatest quantity of patents and patent attorneys who are leading in filing applications for IP subject-matters.
Today, on June 14, 2017, National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its foundation. On this occasion, International Conference on the Use of intellectual Property (IP) for Economic Growth is held at Biltmore Hotel, Tbilisi.
On June 13, 2017, Mr. John Sandage, Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), paid a two-day official visit to Georgia. During the visit Mr. Sandage will attend and deliver a welcome address at the International Conference on the Use of intellectual Property (IP) for Economic Growth, organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of foundation of National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti (June 14-15, 2017).
On June 11, 2017, Sakpatenti participated in the project “Innovations Camp”, aimed at developing innovative thinking among 15-18 year-old schoolchildren and raising their awareness on entrepreneurial issues.
On June 11 and 15, 2017, Sakpatenti participated in the Second Championship of Georgian Creative Start-ups - Creative Business Cup Georgia (CBC) 2017. Mr. Merab Kutsia, Head of Inventions and New Plant Varieties and Animal Breeds Department of Sakpatenti was a member of the jury. For the preliminary assessment of the projects, Sakpatenti also carried out preliminary patent search.
On June 8, 2017, four imitated eight-final legal trials took place at Tbilisi Court of Appeals. The participants of the imitated trials were the best students of the Faculty of Law of various universities of Georgia, who have passed training at the Intellectual Property Law School in Borjomi on June 2-4.
On June 2-4, 2017, Intellectual Property Law School took place in Borjomi, which was organized by Sakpatenti and European Law Students Association, with the financial support of the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce. During the event, Sakpatenti representatives introduced to the best students of the Faculty of Law of various universities of Georgia intellectual property subject-maters, legal aspects of protection of these subject-matters and mechanisms for enforcement of IP rights.
Starting from June 1, 2017 nationals and residents of Georgia will have the possibility to file international patent applications (PCT applications) at Sakpatenti online using ePCT platform. Sakpatenti as a Receiving Office (RO) of the PCT system has already joined said platform.
Since May 24, 2017 the Global IP Case Law Database Darts ip has become available to Sakpatenti examiners. Sakpatenti and Darts ip signed a memorandum for five years within the Annual Meeting of International Trademark Association (INTA), held in Barcelona.
Today, on May 11, 2017, Sakpatenti top officials are holding an information meeting with representatives of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The aim of the meeting is to assist entrepreneurs in drafting an IP strategy and its management, which will facilitate increasing competitiveness of Georgian companies and creating their economic value.
