Students of the Master’s Degree of the Faculty of Law of Tbilisi State University (TSU) Visited Sakpatenti

Students of the Master’s degree of the Faculty of Law of Tbilisi State University (TSU) visited Sakpatenti head office within a study visit.

The visit is related to one of the optional practical components of the Master’s program – “Sakpatenti Clinic”, which has been launched in the spring semester of the 2025-2026 academic year and envisages practical training at Sakpatenti. The “Clinic” gives students an opportunity to gain practical experience and get acquainted with the specificity of the activity of the National Intellectual Property Center and examination procedures on-site.

The purpose of the visit is to familiarize students, in a professional setting, with the legal framework of protection of intellectual property subject-matters and workflows.  Such practice facilitates deepening of theoretical knowledge as well as development of a comprehensive understanding of how the intellectual property system functions. 

During the visit the students got acquainted with the current works in the field of trademarks, geographical indications and designs, as well as inventions and new varieties and breeds. 

This activity was carried out on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Sakpatenti and TSU in 2021, within which the parties have been successfully implementing joint educational and practical initiatives over the years. 

It is important to note that multiple educational visits of this kind are planned throughout the spring semester of the 2025-2026 academic year, in order to strengthen the practical skills of students of the Faculty of Law in the intellectual property field. 

For Sakpatenti, raising awareness on the intellectual property field among the youth is a priority, as is facilitating their involvement in professional educational programs, internships and practical activities. In this regard, special attention is paid to promoting intellectual property law among future legal professionals and to increasing their interest in the given field.
