International Conference “Georgia Against Counterfeiting and Piracy”
Today, on July 12, 2018, the fourth International Conference “Georgia Against Counterfeiting and Piracy” was opened. It is jointly organized by The National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti and Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), U.S. Department of Commerce. The conference takes place in Batumi and aims to facilitate effective implementation of intellectual property enforcement mechanisms, deepening a dialogue between the private and public sectors, sharing interoffice and international experience and establishing contacts between stakeholders in the direction of rights enforcement.

Conference “Intellectual Property (IP) and Education”
On June 20-21, 2018, The National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti, in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is organizing the conference “Intellectual Property (IP) and Education”.

International Project “Intellectual Property for Youth and Teachers” (IP4YOUTH&TEACHERS)
On June 19, 2018, within the International Project “Intellectual Property for Youth and Teachers”, “Training on Tutoring and Teaching” delivered training for teachers which was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti.
Workshop on Implementation of Georgia’s Amended Patent Law
On June 13-14, 2018, Workshop was organized by the World Trade Organization and National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia, aimed to draft the text of the Resolution approving the “Rule of Granting a Compulsory License for the Use of a Patented Invention and Utility Model”, on the basis of the amendments entered in the Patent Law of Georgia on January 11, 2018, in accordance with the commitments under the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union.

Artificial Intelligence Search System
National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti has successfully introduced Trademark Vision – search system of figurative elements. Henceforth, Sakpatenti examiners as well as applicants will be able to use the artificial intelligence throw Sakpatenti website, figurative elements search system, which will facilitate improving examination quality of trademark applications. Sakpatenti has joined the list of IP Offices of the European Union, United Kingdom, France, Australia and Chile, which are using Trademark Vision artificial intelligence technology.

Amendments in the Fees for the Services Related to Patenting, Registration and Deposition of Intellectual Property Subject-Matters
In accordance with Resolution N 328 of the Government of Georgia of June 12, 2018, amendments were made to the fees related to patenting, registration and deposition of intellectual property subject-matters. The Resolution was enacted on the basis of the amendments implemented in the Patent Law of Georgia in 2017, according to which relevant fees were determined for proceedings for issuing a supplementary protection certificate, registration of a supplementary protection certificate,

The Final Training of Trainers of the Georgian Intellectual Property (IP) Academy – Module 5: Training on Copyright and Related Rights is organized by Sakpatenti and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
On June 4-8, 2018, the final, Module 5: Training on Copyright and Related Rights is organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti for trainers of the Georgian Intellectual Property (IP) Academy.
Georgian Geographical Indications are Protected in the Swiss Confederation
Today, on May 31, 2018, Agreement on the Mutual Recognition and Protection of Geographical Indications, Appellations of Origin and Indications of Source between Georgia and the Swiss Confederation was signed in Bern. The signing ceremony took place at the office of the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property.
Meeting with Small and Medium Business Representatives
Today, on May 17, 2018, National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti is organizing a meeting with small and medium business representatives. During the meeting issues of IP management, branding strategy, its economic significance and protection mechanisms are discussed. Along with this, within the Project, Sakpatenti representatives will hold individual meetings with interested companies, will assess the intellectual property assets of the companies and assist them in drafting an IP portfolio.

Meeting with Representatives of EUIPO Boards of Appeal “Appeal Proceedings”
Today, on May 15, 2018, the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti is organizing a workshop “Overview of Activities and Practice of the Boards of Appeals of European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)”. The meeting, aim is to introduce to interested parties the EUIPO’s Boards of Appeals practice and experience, will be led by Mr. Theophile Margellos, President, Boards of Appeal, EUIPO, Mr. Sven Stürmann , Chairman, 2nd Board of Appeal, EUIPO, and Mr. Gordon Humphreys, Chairman, 5th Board of Appeal, EUIPO.
