The first meeting of the Republic of Moldova-Georgia Joint Committee on Geographical Indications was held in videoconference format. Together with representatives of Sakpatenti, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia participated in the meeting.
Within the visit of the representatives of the evaluation mission of the European Union project EU4IP (“Strengthening Intellectual Property Rights in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine to Support EU Accession”), the Project leader Mr. Ibon Ormazabal is visiting Georgia. The objective of the mission is to meet with stakeholders and hold technical discussions for drafting the action plan for the first year.
Today, the Parliament of Georgia adopted for the second reading the draft Law “On Patent Attorneys of Georgia”. The draft Law of Georgia, prepared by Sakpatenti, will regulate issues related to acquisition of patent attorneys qualification, registration and activity as well as issues of creation and functioning of the Association of Patent Attorneys.
With the support of Sakpatenti, graduates from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and Georgian Technical University will have the opportunity to undergo a traineeship at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Spain.
Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti, is visiting the capital of Moldova, where the official launch of EU4IP, a new regional project of the European Union on intellectual property matters, takes place. Together with Sakpatenti, the State Agency on Intellectual Property of Moldova (AGEPI) and the Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations (UANIPIO) will participate in the project.
Sakpatenti representatives took part in the Basque-Georgian Gastronomic Congress. The main culinary event of 2024 –“Culinary Connection Euskadi-Georgia”, one of the active supporters of which was Sakpatenti, was held in Kakheti on March 2-3. The purpose of the Congress was to present the traditional culinary and wines of Georgia and the Basque Country, taking into account modern tendencies and methodologies, to develop enogastrotourism, Georgian cuisine and to share experience. It should be noted that the event will foster promotion of products marked with Georgian geographical indications and appellations of origin, increasing of their export potential, establishment of connections between countries in the direction of culinary culture and formation of business relations.
Yesterday, on February 14, one of the televisions disseminated false information that allegedly the process of granting accreditation to a collective management organization was conducted in violation of the legislation. In the broadcast, the letter sent to Sakpatenti by international umbrella organizations for the protection of authors’ and related rights was mentioned.
