The book “the Georgian of the Seventh Continent” was printed in the printing facility of the Intellectual Property Education and Training Center of Sakpatenti, which is based on the real and impressive story of a Georgian teenager Shalva Gigolashvili. The collection was published under the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia and the Art Palace of Georgia, on the initiative of Mr. Giorgi Kalandia, Director of the Union of Palaces and Museums of Georgia.
The book narrates the story of the life of a teenager who left Georgia at the beginning of the 20th century against the background of difficult historical events. With the help of the British military, he moved to England and later settled in Australia and started a completely new life.
The presentation of the collection, held at the Art Palace of Georgia, was opened by Mr. Giorgi Kalandia, Director of the Union of Palaces and Museums of Georgia. Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti, and Mr. Koba Kobaladze, Director of the State Service on Veteran Issues, also addressed the audience. The speakers highlighted the importance of such publications, which facilitate the preservation of national memory and interpretation of the Georgian identity in the international context. The collection “the Georgian of the Seventh Continent” is not only the life story of one man but is a symbolic narrative of the difficult history of the Georgian nation, its survival and finding its place in a new environment. It is noteworthy that the presentation was attended by Shalva Gigolashvili’s son and family members.
The collection was published with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Embassy of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia. The bilingual (Georgian-English) collection was translated by Ms. Nini Samkharadze, staff member of the Art Palace of Georgia.
