
WIPO Academy Conducts Training of Local Trainers in the Intellectual Property Field - Tutoring Program on IP Training Diagnosis
The objective of the ongoing five-day training at Sakpatenti is to define the components of the training, to reveal and assess the training needs, which will ensure better planning and implementation of the training activities intended for internal or external audiences. The training is organized by the National Intellectual Property Training Center (NIPTC) of Sakpatenti with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy. It is offered for trainers and staff of Sakpatenti Training Center.

A Discussion was Held to Share Information on Trademarks
A virtual round table on online counterfeiting issues was held with the initiative of the Anticounterfeiting Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and with co-organization of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti. A traditional event aimed to support protection of rights of trademark holders facilitates sharing relevant information on trademarks among professionals of this field, which ensures customer protection and introduction of principles of fair commercial activity.

Sakpatenti Training Centre Continues Active Educational Cooperation with Higher Educational Institutions
Within the active educational cooperation between the Georgian National University SEU and Sakpatenti Training Centre, a public lecture “On Intellectual Property” was delivered, during which information on intellectual property subject-matters and legislation regulating the given field was introduced to the SEU business and law students and the academic staff of the University.
The meeting, held at the SEU library, was led by Mr. Merab Kutsia, Head, Department of Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds and Mr. Irakli Kasradze, Department of Trademarks, Geographical Indications and Design of Sakpatenti, who spoke about the importance of the intellectual property field, benefits related to IP rights and legislative framework. Sakpatenti representatives shared with the participants of the meeting their theoretical knowledge and examples of practical experience, which will assist students interested in this field to understand better the basics of intellectual property and processes ongoing in the field.
Cooperation with educational institutions, aimed to raise awareness on intellectual property, is one of the priorities of Sakpatenti. Organization of lectures and other cognitive events facilitates awakening interest in the intellectual property field among students and their professional development in this direction, as well as strengthening the scientific-research activity of the academic staff.

Sakpatenti Training Centre Continues the Series of Trainings Tailored to the Needs for Public Offices in the Field of Intellectual Property
Training on trademarks was held for representatives of the National Agency of Public Registry. The aim of the training was to share experience with representatives of the Public Register about the registration procedures of trademarks, including legal protection of trade names and trademarks.

Within the Georgia-UK Strategic Partnership and Cooperation, Intellectual Property Protection Issues were Discussed on the Committee on Trade Matters
Within the “Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Georgia”, signed on October 21, 2019, the first meeting of the Committee on Trade Matters took place. Ms. Manana Pruidze, Acting Chairperson of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti, participated in the work of the Committee meeting, held at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development on February 24, 2022.

Discussion on the Comparative Analysis between the EU and Georgian Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Legislations
Within the EU Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP), a consultation meeting took place between Georgian enforcement authorities and an expert working on development of the system of intellectual property rights enforcement in Georgia.

Within the Electronic Commerce Reform Amendments are Planned to the Law of Georgia “On Copyright and Related Rights”
Anticipated amendments to the Law “On Copyright and Related Rights” were discussed at the meeting held within the “ReforMeter” project. “ReforMeter” is a project of the ISET Policy Institute, supported by the USAID Economic Governance Program, which is aimed at successful implementation of the electronic commerce reform in Georgia.

Sakpatenti Awarded the Third Place Winning Team of the Millennium Innovation Competition

Sakpatenti participated in the Millennium Innovation Award ceremony, which was opened ceremony, which was opened by Mr. Shalva Papuashvili, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, and H.E.
