From September 24 to October 8, 2017, “Science and Innovations Festival 2017” will take place, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, during which the scientific and innovative potential of the country, achievements of Georgian and foreign researchers will be presented.

Training Course on Geographical Indications
On September 18-22, 2017, an English-language “Training Course on Geographical Indications” is held in Tbilisi, at Sakpatenti Training Centre, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti, within the WIPO professional development program.
Sub-Regional Symposium on Geographical Indications is Held in Trabzon
On September 12-13, 2017, Sub-Regional Symposium on Geographical Indications is held in Trabzon, Turkey, organized by the World intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia (Sakpatenti) and Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (Turkpatent). At the event, issues of legal protection of origin-based products are considered.
12th Session of the Advisory Committee on Enforcement of the World Intellectual Property Organization
On September 4 to 6, 2017, Sakpatenti participated in the Twelfth Session of the Advisory Committee on Enforcement of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
Unauthorized Use of “Sulguni” and Georgian Wine “Kakheti” was Prevented in Poland and Latvia
LEPL National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti applied to the European Commission Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development and requested prevention of unauthorized use of the appellation of origin of Georgian wine “Kakheti” (Kakhuri) as well as the geographical indication of Georgian cheese “Sulguni”.

On August 2, 2017, within the Literature and Art Competition “Tbilisi”, Memorandums of Understanding were signed between National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti, Georgian Copyright Association and Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly.
Exhibition “Georgia – Cradle of Wine” Opened at the “Wine Civilization Centre”
On July 31, 2017, Exhibition “Georgia – Cradle of Wine” opened at the “Wine Civilization Centre” in Bordeaux, France. The great honor of opening the cycle of exhibitions on viticulture and winemaking is due to the centuries-old tradition of planting vineyards and viticulture in Georgia, as well as carried out state policy which has facilitated popularization and demonstration of Georgian wine on the international level. National Intellectual Property Centre of the Georgia Sakpatenti is a co-organizer of this significant event, and, within its competence, in cooperation with other state agencies, is actively involved in the process of organization of the event. Mrs. Sophio Mujiri, Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti and Mrs. Natia Popkhadze, Head of Public Relations and Mass Media Section, are attending the opening of the exhibition.
ELSA Summer School on IP Law Participants at Sakpatenti
On July 28, 2017, participants of European Law Students Association (ELSA) summer school visited Sakpatenti head office. Sakpatenti Chairman Mr. Nikoloz Gogilidze delivered a lecture on the activities and functions of the center. Summer school students attended the formal examination process and received information on the particularities of work at the center based on practical examples. At the end of the event, students were granted certificates of participation at ELSA Summer School on Intellectual Property Law.
ELSA Summer School on IP Law in Tbilisi
On July 24, 2017, the Summer School on Intellectual Property Law opened, organized by the European Law Students Association (ELSA) and Sakpatenti, during which 40 students from 14 European Union countries will attend a one-week academic study course on “Intellectual property Law”.
