
Mr. Mindia Davitadze met with Dr. Catherine Chammartin on Mutual Recognition of New Geographical Indications between the Swiss Confederation and Georgia
During the official visit to the Swiss
Confederation, Sakpatenti Chairman met with Director General of the Swiss
Federal Institute of Intellectual Property. At the introductory meeting held in
Bern the parties discussed the issues of implementation of the “Agreement
on the Mutual Recognition and Protection of Geographical Indications,
Appellations of Origin and Indications of Source between Georgia and the Swiss
Confederation”.

Mr. Daren Tang – We Consider Georgia as a Very Strong and Reliable Partner
Meeting between Mr. Mindia Davitadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti, and Mr. Daren
Tang, newly elected Director General of the World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO), took place at the WIPO headquarters in Geneva. In 2021 Sakpatenti
representative will lead the Central European and Baltic States (CEBS) Regional
Group and Sakpatenti Chairman in person introduced the Group Coordinator to Mr.
Daren Tang.
Standardization and Codification of Legislation of Sakpatenti Chamber of Appeals will be Implemented with the EUIPO Support
Intensification
of the role of Sakpateni Chamber of Appeals, hence, formation of a robust
intellectual property system, is one of the components of the European
Union-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP). Within the EUGIPP, the
European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) will assist Sakpatenti in
elaboration of the consecutiveness of the Chamber decisions. In order to
discuss the cooperation format, Mr. Mindia Davitadze, Sakpatent Chairman, met
with Mr. Theophile Margellos, President of the EUIPO Boards of Appeal.

Mindia Davitadze Held the Meeting with the Member of Parliament - Mr. David Songhulashvili
Mr. Mindia Davitadze, Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia, within the scope of activities of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee of the Parliament of Georgia introduced the priority directions of the Centre to the Chair of the Committee Mr. David Songhulashvili.
National Commission on Geographical Indications - Successful Experience of Italy and France
In order to improve the system of effective protection and control of geographical indications in Georgia, the National Intellectual Property Centre is working together with the European partners, including on capacity building of the staff members of the entity. For this purpose, within the EU funded Twinning Project, working meeting took place between the examiners of the entity and their European, namely, Italian and French counterparts.

Commission on Geographical Indications is being Created in Georgia
National Commission on Geographical Indications - Entity responsible for registration of new geographical indications and appellation of origin and identification of their compliance with the legislation – is being set up in Georgia. The initiative is implemented within the EU funded Twinning Project on “Establishing Efficient Protection and Control System of Geographical Indications (GIs) in Georgia” (GE/16 ENI EC 0318), the main partner of which is the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti.

Please, be informed that period from January 3 to January 15, 2021 will be non-working days for National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – Sakpatenti in accordance with N698 Decree of the Government of Georgia of November 26, 2020.
Due to ongoing pandemic and taking into consideration the recommendations given by the Interagency Coordination Council established at the Government of Georgia, period from January 3 to January 15, 2021 is declared as a non-working. No state or private entities will work during this period, except for Banks, strategically important facilities and services.
Sakpatenti will renew working from January 18, 2021.

Sakpatenti Awarded the Team on the Third Place of the Millennium Innovation Competition
On December 29, 2020, the Millennium Challenge Account - Georgia announced the winning teams of the Millennium Innovation Competition. Sakpatenti awarded the team on the third place – the team from Akhaltsikhe Public School for the project: Mobile Application “GoGeoGo“. The application will assist the foreign tourists visiting Georgia and local residents in obtaining necessary information concerning the use of public transport

Sakpatenti Staff Members Passed Training on Protection of Personal Data

Sakpatenti will obtain ISO 9001:2015 certificate in 2021 – Working on introduction of standards has been started
National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia “Sakpatenti” in order to introduce high standard of operation starts cooperation with the consulting company “Management Systems”. First working meeting between the managers of the organizations has been conducted today, on December 24 and the main purpose of the meeting was to elaborate work plan, the final result of which is obtaining ISO 9001:2015 certificate by “Sakpatenti”.
