Representatives of Intellectual Property Offices of the Caucasian and Eastern European Countries Gathered at the Working Group in Batumi

The National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – Sakpatenti is hosting in Georgia representatives of the Intellectual Property Offices and Customs Departments of Armenia, and Moldova. Today, on July 27, 2022, the regional Expert Level Working Group on IPR took place to outline plans for coordinated work against counterfeiting. The event was held with the support of the U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP).

Georgia Against Counterfeiting and Piracy – 2022

To strengthen public-private sector dialogue concerning the fight against counterfeiting and piracy, today, the 6th International Conference “Georgia Against Counterfeiting and Piracy” was opened. The aim of the conference held in Batumi is to ensure effective interagency coordination regarding mechanisms of intellectual property rights enforcement by sharing international experience. The conference is co-organized by Sakpatenti and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP).

The Delegation of Georgia Held a Meeting with WIPO Director General – Mr. Daren Tang will Visit Georgia in Upcoming Fall

Within the working visit to Geneva for participation in the 63rd Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the  Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the delegation of Georgia held a meeting with Mr. Daren Tang, WIPO Director General, at the headquarters of WIPO. At the meeting the longstanding, close cooperation between WIPO and Sakpatenti was emphasized, which was not hampered even in the conditions of the two-year pandemic crisis. Moreover, with WIPO support, through use of its tools and digitalization of databases, it became possible to offer services to users without interruption both in distance and hybrid mode.

The Delegation of Georgia Held Meetings within the WIPO Assemblies – Report

The delegation of Georgia, visiting Geneva for participation in the 63rd Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held meetings with senior managers of WIPO and representatives of various Intellectual Property Offices. The Georgian delegation headed by Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti Ms. Nino Chikovani, held bilateral negotiations with the heads of the IP Offices of Turkey, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Moldova. Meetings also took place with the representatives of the WIPO Academy and officials of human resources management department of the organization, besides meetings were held with the Head of WIPO Division for Transition and Developed Countries (TDC) and the management of WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center.

Sakpatenti Delegation is Participating in the WIPO Assemblies

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is hosting in Geneva representatives of 193 countries, including the delegation of Georgia, for participation in the 63rd Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO. The delegation of Georgia is headed by Ms. Nino Chikovani, Deputy Chairperson of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti.

Students of ELSA Summer School received Certificates of Completion at the Reception Held at Sakpatenti

The Summer School of the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) on the topic “Intellectual Property Law” was held in Georgia for the seventh time this year. 14 students of the Faculties of Law of the leading universities of ten European countries participated in the Summer School. Today, on July 15, 2022, the participants of ELSA 2022 were hosted at Sakpatenti on occasion of successful completion of the Summer School. Ms. Ana Dalakishvili, Head of Sakpatenti Training Center, congratulated the students on graduating from the Summer School and handed over to them certificates of completion in solemn ceremony

First Georgian became European Patent Attorney

Merab Kutsia, Head of Department of Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds of Sakpatenti is the first Georgian who passed the European qualifying examination (EQE) and received the designation of European patent attorney.

Working Visit of EUGIPP Project Enforcement Expert to Georgia

Within the EU Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP), Mr. Kenneth Wright, expert involved in one of the components of the project “Comparative study of the EU and Georgian legislations and practices on IPR enforcement”, is visiting Georgia. The objective of his visit is to get acquainted with the specificity of work of the intellectual property rights enforcement authorities and share European experience with the Georgian counterparts. Within the visit, on July 12, 2022, a bilateral meeting was held between the expert and Sakpatenti managements at Sakpatenti Head Office. 

Sakpatenti Delegation is Participating in the “Intellectual Property Case Law Conference 2022”

The 4th edition of the Intellectual Property Case Law Conference was opened on July 7, 2022, in Alicante, Spain. Objective of the event is to consider intellectual property judicial practice, global challenges and development perspectives in the legislation. The event, organized by the Boards of Appeal and the Academy of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), is attended by the delegation of Georgia, headed by Mr. Beka Dotchviri, Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti.
