
Designs as a Tool for Economic Growth – Hague System Promotional Event
Today, on May 7, 2019, a Regional Conference was opened. The conference is organized by the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti, in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), devoted to the importance of one of the significant intellectual property subject-matters in the modern world – design, as a tool for business success and economic value of goods, as well as promotion of this IP subject-matter, which will facilitate raising public awareness on the importance of design protection and development of this direction.

Study Course “Patent Search”
On April 22-25, 2019, study course “Patent Search” will take place at the IP Training Centre functioning at Sakpatenti. It covers an overview of the patent system and introduction to the techniques of patent information search. The course is intended for representatives of universities and scientific-research institutions.
The First Mission within the Twinning Project Visited Georgia
On April 15, 2019, to support the development of the geographical indications and appellations of origin system in Georgia and its harmonization with the European Union GI protection system, the series of meetings were launched, the meetings are held in the framework of implementing EU Funded Twinning Project first stage.

41st Session of the Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications
On April 8-11, 2019, the Forty-First Session of the Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) took place in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Irakli Kasradze, Head of Department of Trademarks, Geographical Indications and Design of Sakpatenti participated in the Session.
Millennium Innovation Competition 2019
On March 28, 2019, the Millennium Challenge Foundation revealed the winning project of the Millennium Innovation Competition. In 2019, five pupils of the team “Obertone” who created the project “Barney Smart Labyrinth” will visit NASA.
The EU Funded Twinning Project on “Establishing Efficient Protection and Control System of Geographical Indications (GIs) in Georgia” Began
On March 28, 2019, a meeting took place at Sakpatenti Office in Mtskheta, within the Twinning Project on “Establishing Efficient Protection and Control System of Geographical Indications (GIs) in Georgia”, funded by the European Union, where the parties discussed and signed the action plan for the first six months of the Project implementation.
