Within the joint International Master’s Program of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Kutaisi International University (KIU) and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”, Professor Diogo Costa Cunha from the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI), the University of Strasbourg, co-author of the Master’s Program and WIPO’s invited expert, will deliver a Lecture Course on “Intellectual Property Commercialization and Technology Transfer” at KIU.

Sakpatenti has been Granted Access to the Search Tool of the European Patent Office

2025 Qualification Examinations for Patent Attorneys of Georgia – Statistical Overview
By Order No. 327 dated 29 September 2025, the Chairperson of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (“Sakpatenti”) appointed the first qualification examinations for patent attorneys of Georgia in the general and trademark specializations.
During the registration period for the examination – from 1 October to 14 November 2025, inclusive – a total of 47 applications were submitted: for the trademark specialization – 42, and for the general specialization – 5 applications. Due to non-compliance with the qualification requirements, 3 applications were rejected.
Accordingly, a total of 44 applicants successfully completed registration for both specializations. Prior to the examination, 2 applicants requested to cancel their registration for the examination, which was granted.
Sakpatenti Chairman Awards Certificates to Successful Patent Attorney Candidates of the Qualification Examination of Patent Attorneys
The qualification examination of patent attorneys was held in Georgia for the first time since 2014. Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”, officially handed over certificates to the successful candidates.

The “Millennium Innovation Award” was held for the eleventh time this year. For many years, Sakpatenti has cooperated with the Millennium Foundation, serving as a constant and active supporter of the competition and being closely involved in the implementation of initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and the development of new technologies. Since the establishment of the Award in 2014, a representative of Sakpatenti Mr. Vasil Giorgadze, Head of the Mechanics and Physics Division of the Department of Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds, has been a permanent member of the jury. In addition, Sakpatenti has participated in the evaluation of competition projects and selection of the winning teams for the fifth consecutive year. Each year, Sakpatenti awards one of the finalist teams of the competition
Sakpatenti Awards the Selected Team of the Young Inventors and Researchers Competition “Leonardo da Vinci”
With the support and direct involvement of Sakpatenti, the Young Inventors and Researchers Competition “Leonardo da Vinci” was held for the fifteenth time this year. The Competition is also supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. Since its establishment, “Leonardo da Vinci” has been organized by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia.
A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Sakpatenti and the Art Palace of Georgia
In order to highlight the importance of protecting intellectual property and cultural heritage and to facilitate the creative potential of society, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti” and the Art Palace of Georgia. The document was signed by Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairperson of Sakpatenti and Mr. George Kalandia, General Director of the Art Palace of Georgia.
