
A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Sakpatenti and Geostat
A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia and the National Statistics Office of Georgia at the head office of Sakpatenti, which is aimed to deepen cooperation and exchange information between the parties, as well as to plan and implement joint activities based on common interests,. The memorandum was signed by Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti, and Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

Georgia has Acceded to the Geneva Act
Georgia has acceded to the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications (hereinafter referred to as the Geneva Act). The Georgian Parliament supported the ratification of the Act on March 18, 2025. As a result, the scope of protection for Georgia's unique products has been significantly extended to cover 23 contracting states and two intergovernmental organizations that are parties to the Geneva Act—the European Union and the African Intellectual Property Organization.

Website of Sakpatenti has been Adapted to Persons with Disabilities
To ensure equal access to services for persons with disabilities, the website of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti” has been updated and adapted for persons with disabilities. The function of adding or removing the image contrast and changing the font size, as well as the function of voicing the text in Georgian have been added to the website.

Mr. Soso Giorgadze Signed a Trilateral Memorandum on Launching of an International Master’s Program in Georgia at the Official Event Held in Switzerland
On the
initiative and with the direct involvement of the National Intellectual
Property Center of Georgia, a Trilateral Memorandum was signed in Geneva
between the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Kutaisi
International University (KIU) and Sakpatenti.
Training on Personal Data Protection was Held at Sakpatenti
In accordance with the requirements of new Law of Georgia “On Personal Date Protection”, to ensure the high standard of personal data protection, a one-day training session was held for Sakpatenti staff, in cooperation with the Personal Data Protection Service. The training was opened with a welcoming address by Ms. Tika Nebieridze, Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti.
Sakpatenti Participated in the Youth Literary Camp
Within the Youth Literary Camp, held in Telavi, Ms. Anuki Oboladze, Head of Sakpatenti Legal Department, delivered a presentation for the participants of the Camp and spoke about the importance of Sakpatenti activity and intellectual property. Debates were held on the issues related to copyright protection as well as the legislative changes carried out at Sakpatenti recently and ongoing reforms

Sakpatenti has Granted the Status of Geographical Indication to “Georgian Highland Traditional Beer”
The National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”, on the basis of the application of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, has registered “Georgian Highland Traditional Beer” as a geographical indication

Georgia’s New Legal Framework on Geographical Indications was Discussed as a Case Study of Successful Reform at the WIPO/WTO Joint Colloquium
At the international colloquium, organized jointly by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), the case study of the reform implemented in Georgia was discussed. On the invitation of the WIPO Academy, Mr. Mery Macharashvili, Head of the Department of Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds, National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”, delivered a presentation with the status of a speaker. The topic of her presentation was the legal framework of Georgia’s geographical indications as a vivid example of a successfully implemented reform
Closing Event of the Joint Georgian-Swiss Intellectual Property Project (GESIP) was Held
The closing event of the joint Georgian-Swiss Intellectual Property Project (GESIP) was held at “Ambasadori Kachreti”.
The Georgian-Swiss Intellectual Property Project (GESIP) is implemented with the financial support of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), in close cooperation between the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) and Sakpatenti from August 1, 2022.

Mr. Soso Giorgadze Awarded the Finalist Team “BEES” of the Millennium Innovation Award 2024
Sakpatenti is the body determining policy in the intellectual property field, which is actively engaged in implementation of various events aimed at the development of innovations and technologies, including the Millennium Innovation Award. Sakpatenti cooperates with the Millennium Foundation over the years and from 2014 – establishment of the competition – is represented in the jury and has participated in evaluation of the challenge projects and selection of the winning teams.
