According to the Assessment of the U.S. Department of State, Sakpatenti Fulfils its Rights and Duties Successfully
The U.S. Department of State released the 2024 Investment Climate Statements for Georgia, in which it is said that the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti” administers the regulatory system for issuing and managing trademarks, copyright, patents, and geographical indications of origin.

Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”, within the 65th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held a meeting with the delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting was attended by Ms. Botagoz Zhakselekova, Vice-Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Sholpan Abdreyeva, Director of the Department of Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Ms. Aidyn Artykova, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and on the part of Sakpatenti – Ms. Meri Macharashvili, Head, Department of Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds.

Digitization of Paper Archival Materials Started at Sakpatenti
At Sakpatenti, representatives of the National Archives of Georgia started the scientific and technical processing of the material documentation of the Office. Sakpatenti is guided by the recommended standard of the National Archives, according to which, formation of the archive envisages conducting examination of the documentation from the foundation of Sakpatenti to the present day, drawing up descriptions and signing a waste paper act for documents to be destroyed.
Training on Biotechnology Inventions Patentability and Freedom to Operate (FTO) Search” Delivered to Sakpatenti Examiners
To enhance the professional development of the examiners at Sakpatenti’s Department of Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds, a three-day training session on Biotechnology Inventions Patentability and Freedom to Operate (FTO) Search” was conducted at the Hotel “Holiday Inn Tbilisi”. This training was part of the joint project (GESIP) of Sakpatenti and the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI).

Today, the first meeting of the Steering Committee of the Georgia-EU joint project – “Strengthening Intellectual Property Rights in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine (EU4IP)” took place.
The Georgian Technical University Hosted a Panel Discussion on the Relevance of Intellectual Property Management
Ms. Tika Nebieridze, Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti, participated in a panel discussion on the relevance of intellectual property management, held at the Georgian Technical University (GTU). The agenda of the panel discussion included analyzing the importance of intellectual property protection in the period of university research and its commercialization and revealing best practices.
Sakpatenti Participated in the Panel Discussion Held within the “Young Scientists’ Week”
The National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti” participated in the panel discussion held within the “Young Scientists’ Week”. The event was attended by Mr. Dimitri Iobashvili, Head of the Chemistry-Medicine and Biology Division of the Department of Invention and New Varieties and Breedsof Sakpatenti. The event, planned by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, was held at the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. Based on the example of Georgia, the participants of the meeting discussed the translation of scientific research into economy. In the format of a panel discussion, attention was focused on the environment, achievements, challenges and prospects of translation of research into economy.
